Introduction:

I will talk with the students and see if they understand how to use the computer to complete assignments. This class consists of second graders with no learning disabilities at this time.

Content Area Math

Standard:

1.1.3 By the end of first grade, students will recognize numbers and applications in everyday situations.

Integrated disciplines:

Reading

Objectives:

Introduce the students to successively explore different web sites and gather information then complete the student worksheet. Students will complete a student worksheet to form multiplication facts that correspond with each site.

Materials/Technologies:

Procedures

Springboard:

Talk with the students about using the internet. Ask them if they know how to use web sites. Explain what we are going to do, use the internet to help us with our multiplication facts.

What teacher is to do:

Distribute and explain the student worksheet(attached)

Give the students the address

Observe and answer questions about the site

What students are to do:

Complete the student worksheet successfully

Closure:

Review what we did today in the class, help each student finish their assignment if they are not already done.

Assessment:

I will check for understanding on how to use the internet as well as if the students completed the student worksheet.

Explanation:

I chose this site because it lets the children be independent as well as confident in what they are learning. They can go to this site without the help of a teacher and chose this activity and complete it successfully.

 

 

 

 

Activity 2

Lesson Topic/Title Shopping for Toys

Standard:

      1. By the end of first grade, students will demonstrate the concepts of addition and subtraction up to 10.

Integrated disciplines: Reading, Art

Objectives:

The students will make a display consisting of drawings of some of the toys they chose, a few sentences explaining why they chose those toys, and also the students will answer the teacher made questions and complete the order form.

Computers, pencil, order form, (attached) crayons, paper

Procedures

Springboard:

Tell the students that they have just won $100 gift certificate to buy some toys on the internet. They must try to spend as much of it as they can without going over. Let's go shopping and have some fun.

What teacher is to do:

Distribute the order form

Give the address

Observe students on task

What students are to do:

Complete the order form

Draw what toys they have purchased

Write a few sentences about the toys they chose

Closure:

The students will have learned how to fill out an order form and how to shop on a budget. They will also have reinforced their addition and subtraction skills as well as their communication skills.

Assessment:

Order forms are complete with the total amount of money each student spent on their toys. The drawings of the toys and sentences are complete by the end of the day.
